This week’s post is a spotlight on The Development Hub - People Business Community and the great work they do in Hawkes Bay.
Tumu Timbers has worked closely with The Development Hub, and one of their graduates is now a key member of our staff. The Development Hub has partnered with more than 50 other local businesses who employ their graduates.
The Development Hub is a "life-changing" programme which actively helps women to get into the workforce. The programme has an 80 per...cent success rate with participants going into employment or higher education.
The programme most often sees candidates without CVs, cover letters, motivation and confidence. They want to be in work, but they don't have the practical skills to get there.
Managing director Sarah-Jo Barley says the three-week course teaches basic job hunting skills such as CV writing and preparing for interviews, as well as teaching goal setting, budgeting and showing them how to get a drivers licence.
The Development Hub, based in Hastings, will provide an extra eight courses over the next year and fund expansion into Napier, Wairoa, Central Hawke's Bay and Gisborne.
