A three-year sponsorship agreement between TUMU Group and the Hawke’s Bay Fitness Centre Trust aims at producing the region’s next generation of high-performance athletes.
The Te Tūranga Athlete Development Programme helps young, talented sportspeople throughout Hawke’s Bay reach their potential. It primarily includes world-class strength and conditioning support, along with the assistance of nutrition, life skills, and personalised performance plans all reinforced by evidenced-based practise and youth development research.
Director Barry O’Sullivan said TUMU Group has always taken great pride in ensuring it did its part to build stronger, more resilient, and sustainable communities.
“We are very pleased to be able to offer support to the trust to help nurture promising young athletes to reach their full potential. Our youth are the future and I have no doubt Hawke’s Bay will continue to produce world-class athletes because of this programme.”
“The TUMU Group sponsorship is critical to our Te Tūranga Athlete Development program to help our promising athletes from around Hawke’s Bay take a step closer to achieving their sporting dreams on the national and world stage,” says Josh Stewart - Strength & Conditioning Specialist. “It also allows us to keep up with the latest equipment, technology, and information to ensure we give them the best service possible.
Paralympic canoe racing athlete Peter Cowan credits the programme with helping his form. “The Te Tūranga Athlete Development Program and the Strength & Conditioning team have helped me physically develop to cope with the demands of my sport and compete on the international stage to hopefully qualify for the Paris Paralympics 2024.”
